DealHunter Privacy Policy

DealHunter ("the extension", "we", "our") is a browser extension that compares product prices across major US retailers. This policy explains what data is collected, why, and how it is used. We have designed the extension to collect as little data as possible.

1. Data we collect

DealHunter collects the minimum data required to function:

• Search queries — the product name or Amazon URL you enter is sent to our search provider (SerpApi) to retrieve prices. We do not log or store your search history on our servers.
• Account information (Pro users only) — if you create a Pro account, we store your email address, a Google user ID, and your subscription status. We do not store passwords.
• Anonymous usage counts — to enforce free-tier search limits, we count the number of searches performed per account per calendar month. No query content is stored alongside this count.

2. Data we do not collect

• Browsing history or visited URLs
• Purchases you make after clicking a link
• Payment card information (handled entirely by Stripe — see section 5)
• Location data
• Any data from pages you visit outside the extension popup and results page

3. Third-party services

The extension contacts the following third-party services to operate:

• SerpApi (serpapi.com) — retrieves product listings from Google Shopping, Amazon, and Walmart. Your search query is sent to SerpApi. See SerpApi's Privacy Policy.
• Google OAuth — used for optional sign-in. We receive your email address and a unique Google account ID. We do not receive your Google password. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — processes payments for Pro subscriptions. DealHunter never sees or stores your payment card details; they go directly to Stripe. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

4. Affiliate disclosure

DealHunter participates in affiliate programs including the Amazon Associates Program, the Walmart Affiliate Program, the Target Affiliate Program, and the Best Buy Affiliate Program. When you click a "Shop now" link and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate commissions do not affect the prices displayed, the order in which results are shown, or our editorial recommendations.

5. Payments and subscriptions

Pro subscription payments are processed by Stripe. DealHunter stores only your Stripe Customer ID (an opaque reference) to manage subscription status. We never store, see, or transmit full card numbers, CVVs, or bank details.

6. Data retention

Free-tier users: no personal data is stored unless you create an account. Pro users: your account data is retained for as long as you hold an active subscription. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing deal-hunter-support@googlegroups.com. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Children's privacy

DealHunter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
